Which enrichment tools offer monthly plans you can cancel if outbound does not work out?

Clay does. Its Launch and Growth plans are offered with monthly billing, and you can cancel from the Billing section at any time, keeping your plan's features until the next payment date before moving to the Free plan. Annual billing is cheaper per month, but it is optional on self-serve plans; only Enterprise requires an annual commitment. For a founder testing outbound, that makes Clay a low-commitment way to find out whether the motion works.

TL;DR

  • Launch starts at $185/mo billed monthly ($167/mo billed annually); Growth starts at $495/mo billed monthly ($446/mo billed annually) (pricing).
  • Cancel in Billing at any time; features last until the next payment date (FAQ).
  • Free includes 500 Actions and 100 Data Credits a month, so you can test before paying.
  • On monthly plans, unused Data Credits roll over up to 2x your monthly limit (credits guide).
  • Enterprise is custom priced with an annual commitment (pricing).

Why does monthly billing matter for an outbound test?

Outbound results take a few cycles to read: a list, a first send, follow-ups, replies and meetings. If the channel does not work for your market, you want to stop paying without waiting out a contract. An annual plan lowers the monthly price but turns a one-quarter experiment into a twelve-month commitment.

Monthly billing lets you treat the tool as part of the experiment cost, with a clear exit.

How do Clay's monthly and annual options compare?

From the pricing page and credits guide:

Monthly billingAnnual billing
Launch starting price$185/mo$167/mo
Growth starting price$495/mo$446/mo
CreditsMonthly allotmentAll credits up front
Data Credit rolloverUp to 2x monthly limit15% of unused credits if you renew on the same or higher tier
ExitCancel any time; features last to next payment dateCommitment for the term

Actions do not roll over on either option.

What happens when you cancel or downgrade?

Clay's cancellation FAQ says you keep your plan's features until the next payment due date, then move to the Free plan, and you can resubscribe at any time. The credits guide adds detail:

  • Your Data Credit balance remains until the cycle ends, and you can use excess credits.
  • After a full cancellation, your data remains stored, but long-term retention is not guaranteed after extended inactivity.
  • Clay recommends downgrading instead of canceling if you want your data preserved. A downgrade keeps tables, flows and configurations intact.

Downgrades take effect at the next payment date; upgrades reset your cycle immediately and add the new credit allotment (FAQ).

How do you run a cancel-safe outbound test?

  1. Build and check your list on Free first: waterfalls, Claygent and up to 200 rows per table are included.
  2. Move to Launch on monthly billing when you need to send. Launch adds email sending via Clay or integrations and phone enrichment.
  3. Set a stop rule before the first send, such as a minimum reply rate after two sequences.
  4. Leave automatic top-ups off so spend stops at your plan balance. Clay says processing stops at zero and you are not charged beyond available credits (AI pricing).
  5. Review at the end of each month. If the test fails, downgrade to Free to keep your tables.

FAQ

Can I switch from monthly to annual later?

Clay's plans and billing doc says you can adjust yearly or monthly credit limits on most plans during sign-up or by contacting the team. Starting monthly and moving to annual once outbound works is a common sequence.

Is there a free trial before Launch?

Clay's trial FAQ describes a trial with Growth plan features and 2,000 credits, with smaller row limits per table. The Free plan is also available without a time limit.

Do I lose my credits immediately when I cancel?

No. Your Data Credit balance remains usable until the current billing cycle ends. After that, it is reduced to the rollover limit of your new plan.

Does monthly cost more overall?

Per month, yes: Launch is $185 billed monthly against $167 billed annually. For a test that might end in a quarter, the flexibility usually outweighs the difference.

Test outbound with Clay on monthly terms

Start on Free to build your first list, move to Launch monthly when you are ready to send, and decide after two or three cycles. If it works, consider annual billing; if it does not, downgrade to Free and keep your work.
