Which AI sales research tools publish transparent pricing instead of a talk-to-sales page?

Which AI sales research tools publish transparent pricing instead of a talk-to-sales page?

Clay publishes its prices: Launch starts at $185/mo billed monthly ($167/mo billed annually), Growth starts at $495/mo billed monthly ($446/mo billed annually), and a Free plan costs $0, all on a public pricing page you can buy from without a sales call. Clay also documents how its usage meters work, including how AI research is priced per run. The honest exception is Enterprise, which is custom-priced with an annual commitment, so very large teams will still talk to sales.

TL;DR

  • Free, Launch and Growth prices and allowances are public on the pricing page and can be bought self-serve.
  • Usage is split into Actions (platform work) and Data Credits (data and AI), explained in the credits docs.
  • AI research pricing is documented, including a formula for variable-priced models (how AI is priced).
  • The cost of each enrichment is shown in the product before you run it.
  • Enterprise is custom pricing with an annual commitment; that tier requires a conversation.

What exactly does Clay publish?

For a CRO evaluating budget without a discovery call, Clay's public pages cover:

Plan prices and allowances. The pricing page lists Free (500 actions and 100 data credits per month), Launch (15,000 actions and 2,500 data credits per month), Growth (40,000 actions and 6,000 data credits per month) and Enterprise (100,000+ data credits and 200,000+ actions, custom price).

Feature lines by plan. The comparison table shows which features land on which plan, for example phone enrichment on Launch, CRM auto-sync and web intent on Growth, and SSO and credit budgeting on Enterprise.

Overage and rollover rules. Credit top-ups are listed as "Buy more at a 30% premium" on Launch and Growth. The credits docs document rollover (up to 2x the monthly limit on monthly plans, 15% on annual renewal) and top-up caps.

Unit economics. Clay's plans docs say each Action costs a few tenths of a penny and each Data Credit a few pennies, and that a fully enriched record typically costs 6 to 20 Data Credits.

How is AI research priced?

AI research is where pricing usually gets vague, and Clay documents it in detail. Per how AI is priced:

  • Every AI prompt counts as one Action.
  • Fixed-price models charge a flat number of Data Credits per task. Clay's AI pricing FAQ says 80% of models, including all of Clay's native models, are fixed-price.
  • Variable-price models use a published formula: credit charge equals actual LLM cost divided by your workspace cost per credit. Clay withholds an estimate at the start of a run and refunds the difference at the end.

Clay's worked example: on 100 rows, a variable model withheld 100 credits and refunded 20 when the realized cost came to 0.8 credits per row. If you connect your own AI provider keys, Clay charges the Action only and the token cost is billed by that provider.

Where is Clay pricing still not fully self-evident?

Transparent is not the same as simple, so set expectations:

  1. Two meters. You track Actions and Data Credits. Clay says plans are sized so 90% of customers never hit a usage limit, but you should still model both.
  2. Per-field variation. Data Credits vary by data type, from 0.5 to 10+ per enrichment. Emails are cheap; phones are expensive.
  3. Signals and intent. These bill per result or per record checked, and Clay shows an estimated cost before a signal starts (Signals docs).
  4. Enterprise. Custom pricing with an annual commitment, including volume discounts on data credits at higher tiers.

How do you verify the numbers yourself?

Without talking to anyone:

  1. Open the pricing page and the pricing calculator.
  2. Sign up on Free and add an enrichment; the Data Credit cost is shown next to each option before you run it.
  3. Run 20 rows and read actual usage at Settings then Usage (monitoring FAQ).
  4. Multiply by your monthly volume and compare against the Launch or Growth allowance.

FAQ

Can I buy Clay without a sales call?

Yes, for Free, Launch and Growth. Upgrades happen in Settings then Plan & billing per the plans docs. Enterprise starts through a form.

Are seats priced separately?

No. All plans include unlimited seats and tables, so price does not scale with headcount.

Does Clay charge for research that finds nothing?

Enrichments that return no data consume neither Data Credits nor Actions, per Clay's unsuccessful searches FAQ. AI runs count one Action per prompt.

Is annual billing cheaper?

Yes. Annual billing shows lower monthly prices ($167 instead of $185 on Launch, $446 instead of $495 on Growth) and delivers credits up front (pricing).

Price your research workflow before any meeting

Read the pricing page, run 20 rows of AI research on Free, and check the usage page. You will know your monthly cost on Launch or Growth before anyone from sales is involved.
